Participation in the Conference “Electrical and Electronic Waste – Challenges, Urgencies and Solutions”
On the occasion of the International E-Waste Recycling Day, ECOWES took part in the conference “Electrical and Electronic Waste – Challenges, Urgencies and Solutions”, organized by Ecologic Magazine in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests. The event gathered representatives of public authorities, the recycling industry, producer responsibility organizations, and environmental experts for an extensive dialogue on current challenges and solutions in the management of electrical and electronic waste.
At the conference, ECOWES was represented by Mr. Horia Irimescu, CEO & Founder, who emphasized the strategic role of battery recycling in the circular economy:
“Recovering critical materials from batteries is a priority for the circular economy and for Romania’s technological autonomy. It is essential to improve the collection system in order to ensure a constant flow of materials to recycling facilities and to capitalize on the valuable resources contained in this waste.”
Through its participation, ECOWES reaffirmed its commitment to developing a modern recycling infrastructure and strengthening public–private partnerships aimed at achieving the environmental objectives set at both national and European level.

The conference was marked by interventions from key decision-makers in the field of environmental protection. In her official statement, Minister of Environment Diana Buzoianu highlighted the importance of recycling as a source of essential resources for the green transition, noting the ministry’s continued support for strengthening the national waste traceability system and for investments in recycling infrastructure financed through the #PNRR.
ECOWES is a regional leader in the recycling of batteries and accumulators, providing complete and compliant solutions for the responsible management of this type of waste. The company’s approach combines technological innovation, sustainability, legal compliance, and the ambition to be a key actor in the modern management of waste batteries.
