Recycling of Alkaline Batteries
EcoWES announces the launch of a new recycling line dedicated exclusively to alkaline batteries. This initiative represents a significant step in our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and efficient recycling solutions, addressing a broad category of electronic waste. The purpose of this line is to process used alkaline batteries, transforming them into secondary raw materials that can be reintegrated into the production cycle.
Alkaline battery collection is carried out from a variety of collection points, including supermarkets, institutions, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and car service centers, thanks to our partnerships with SNRB, Ecotic Bat, RLG, and others. The batteries are transported to our facilities in specialized containers, using dedicated trucks to ensure their safe and efficient handling.
Detailed Recycling Process
The recycling process begins with the mechanical sorting of batteries by size and shape. Subsequently, on the recycling line, batteries are manually sorted by chemistry, in order to ensure that each type is processed appropriately for maximum material recovery.
The treatment of alkaline batteries involves several complex stages for the separation and purification of their components:
- Batteries are initially mechanically separated in a bunker equipped with vibrating strainers, based on their diameter, to ensure proper storage.
- They are then moved along a vibrating table that orients the batteries for further processing based on their chemical composition.
- Alkaline batteries, along with other types such as Silver-Oxide, are processed through a shredder for grinding, followed by the separation of components into fractions of black mass, plastic, iron, and paper or labels.
Separation and Recovery Technology
The separation process uses a zig-zag separator equipped with a fan and cyclone to efficiently separate and collect black mass and labels. These fractions are collected in suitable containers for recycling or further use. Our advanced technology ensures that all recovered materials, including metal, plastic, and black mass, are properly treated to maximize resource recovery and reuse.
EcoWES Commitment to Sustainability
The implementation of this recycling line underscores EcoWES’s commitment to closing the recycling loop and reducing the need for new resources in the battery industry. We are dedicated not only to advancing recycling technology but also to promoting a business model that adheres to the principles of the circular economy, thus contributing to protecting the environment.
Engagement in the Recycling Sector
This recycling line represents, not only a technological breakthrough for EcoWES, but also an open invitation to industry partners and the community to join our efforts. Through collaboration and continuous innovation, we can make alkaline battery recycling more accessible and efficient, providing a concrete solution to one of the significant challenges of electronic waste management.
The new recycling line marks a significant moment in EcoWES’s history and in the field of recycling globally. It is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and a greener future for all. We invite all stakeholders to join this initiative, collectively contributing to a lasting and positive impact on the environment and society.
